The Board of Trustees of the Penn Yan Public Library adopted a proposed budget for the 2011-12 fiscal year at its Jan. 20 meeting.

The budget has a 1.9 percent increase over the current year. The increase is essentially due to the increase in the retirement payment due to New York State. Both salaries and health insurance costs are down in the proposed budget. Copies of the proposed budget are available at the library and at www.pypl.org.

A hearing on the proposed budget will take place on March 29 and the vote on the budget will be on April 5. One trustee position is up for election. It is held now by Melanie Sullivan. Petitions from anyone wishing to run for the board are due by March 7. For more information call 315-536-6114.
