Applications for the 2011 Interrupted Studies Grant offered by the Yates County Branch of AAUW are now available. The grant is awarded annually to a Yates County woman whose education has been interrupted for at least six months at some point.

The $1,000 grant has been named in memory of Marcia Dugan, a life member of the Yates County Branch of the American Association of University Women who was a writer, speaker and advocate for issues related to education and to hearing loss.

Applicants for the grant must have been accepted into a degree program at a two-year or four-year college, or into an advanced-degree program.

For a form or more information,  call 607-243-8565 or e-mail marygeotomion@gmail.com. The deadline for submitting an application is April 30.

Applicants must provide a letter of application, an academic transcript, and verification of enrollment in a degree program. The package plus personal references should be sent to the Grant Committee at 1041 S. Glenora Rd., Dundee, NY 14837.

The Interrupted Studies Grant is the Yates County AAUW branch’s way of helping to make college-level study more accessible to local women.
