Seminar for prospective school board members set

A “Seminar for Prospective School Board Members” will be held from 8:45 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 14 at the Four County School Boards Association offices located on the Wayne-Finger Lakes BOCES Regional Support Center Campus at 131 Drumlin Court, Newark, in the Maple Building.

This year, all school board members will be elected May 19. Candidates for boards of education must file nominating petitions at least 30 days prior to the election (20 days for small cities). This seminar helps potential school board candidates and the public understand the role and responsibilities of school board service.

A school board candidate must be a U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old, able to read and write, a district resident for one year prior to election, and not employed by the school district or related to a current member of the board of education.
