Penn Yan Municipal electric power went out in parts of the village around 1 a.m. last night, Feb. 6 for approximately one hour.

Penn Yan Public Works Director Brent Bodine says some customers experienced a black out while others had a reduction in power, often called a brown out.

Bodine says the problem was traced to a transformer at the Welker Substation at the corner of North Ave. and Linden St. near the Penn Yan Volunteer Ambulance Corps station.

Penn Yan residents worried about the loss of power on one of the coldest nights recorded this winter. David Garvey complimented village workers, saying, "Our village municipal did an outstanding job of responding and getting the power back to us in under an hour. Great job, men, and thank you!"
