Yates County is one of only two counties in New York without a public transportation system.

In order to learn about the transportation needs of Yates County residents and business owners, the Transportation Steering Committee is conducting an online survey to get input from as many Yates County residents as possible.

Committee Chair Mary Zelazny says, “the information gathered will help to build the business plan that the Yates Legislature has requested before they agree to apply for the state funds that will support a Yates transportation system.”

Zelazny states that with state and federal funding and fares paid by riders, there should be no cost to the county.

The committee asks citizens to take a few minutes to fill out the survey at:

The committee is panning a public forum soon, and will present the survey and forum results to the county legislature in the spring.
