GOP lists candidates for county, town posts

The following Republican candidates have announced their intentions to seek public office this fall, according to information provided by the Yates County Republican Committee following a June 8 meeting. A Republican Primary will be held Sept. 12. The general election will be Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Republicans who have announced their intent to run are:

Yates County District Attorney: Valerie Gardner (incumbent) and Todd Casella

County Treasurer: Winona Flynn (incumbent)

County Coroner: Theron Smith

County Legislature:

District 1 (Jerusalem, Middlesex, Italy - 4 seats): Ed Bronson, Elden Morrison, and Doug Paddock will seek re-election. Tim Cutler & Pat Killen will seek election. Taylor Fitch will not be seeking re-election.

District 2 (Benton, Potter, Torrey-3 seats): Tim Dennis, Jim Smith, and Terry Button (incumbents), and Rick Wilson (former legislator).

District 3 (Milo-4 seats): Dan Banach, Leslie Church, Earl Gleason and Mark Morris (incumbents), and Carlie Chilson.

District 4 (Barrington, Starkey, 3 seats): Bill Holgate, Jim Multer, and Bonnie Percy (incumbents)

Also, many town supervisor, town council, highway superintendents, and clerk positions are up for election.

Town of Milo:

Pat Christensen will seek re-election as Town Clerk. Lance Yonge will be seeking re-election as Highway Supervisor. Jim Harris & Gene Spanneut will seek re-election as Town Councilpersons.

Town of Jerusalem:

Pat Killen will seek re-election as Town Supervisor.

Other town committees have not announced potential candidates yet.

A meeting to review completed petitions be held on Thursday, July 6th at 7 p.m. at the Penn Yan Village Hall room.
