Cook is committed to being a prosecutor

To the Editor:

I am writing to show my support for Jason Cook for Yates County District Attorney.  I have spent 36 years in the Fire Department / Emergency Management field as a volunteer firefighter and as my career. Based on this experience I know very few crimes are as dangerous to the public as arson.  Jason has experience in prosecuting this complex crime and in addition to this “hands on/practical” experience, Jason has also successfully completed a rigorous course on “Arson Prosecution:  Fires and Explosions.”

Personally I have known Jason for more than 20 years and have found him to have a strong belief in law and order, great family values and a love of the outdoors and his family’s land.   Jason has shown me that he is committed to being a prosecutor as he has done it for his entire career.  He is not afraid to take felony cases to trial if the defendant is unwilling to admit responsibility for their actions and he has successfully prosecuted hundreds of felony criminal cases. He has shown he is committed to protecting citizens and property from criminals.   I want the next  District Attorney to be an experienced career prosecutor such as Jason Cook is.

Jason can provide a seamless transition to a new administration.  His current role as First Assistant District Attorney has familiarized him with the county budget process, public safety committee, legislature meetings and the overall operation of county government.  I believe  Jason Cook is the right person for the job.  I will be voting for him on Election Day, Nov 3.  I urge my fellow county residents to do the same.
