Penn Yan Public Library presents the following online activities:
Teen Poetry Contest until April 30
April is National Poetry Month! Celebrate by submitting up to two poems online at https://tinyurl.com/ud3mt9k. Submit up to two poems by midnight April 30, 2020. Prizes will be awarded to the top author in each age category: 10-12, 13-15, and 16-18. Poems will be judged by library staff. Winners will be contacted by May 5, 2020 and will receive a gift card to a local restaurant. The fine print: Entrants must be between 10-18 years to participate. Participants must be Yates County residents to be eligible. Individuals can only win one prize in this contest. Entries must be submitted online only. All submissions must be original works written by the young adult submitting the entry. Each individual may submit up to two entries total. Entries may be edited for publication purposes. Individuals grant permission for their poems to be shared in video or text format.

Things are stressful and weird! Let's take care of ourselves so we can calm down, enjoy life, and help others relax, too. This will be a fun, quick introduction to self-care and you will learn tools you can use immediately. Hungry for some friendly competition? Need to interact with someone other than your quarantine buddies? Nothing’s better than game night! This month, we’ll play an online version of the classic word game Scattergories! Players will need to come up with a list of words that fit a certain category, all beginning with the same letter; score points for each unique word you come up with. Simple and fun!
