Scots get three big wins, improve to 7-2 overall

The Dundee Scotsmen raced to a 37-27 halftime advantage and pulled away in the second half to an easy 78-49 non-league win over Hammonsport in a boy’s basketball game played on Jan. 7 in Dundee.

Rocky Martini led the way for the Maroon and White with 19 points. He also hauled down 8 rebounds.  Brent Ayers contributed 16 points with 7 boards, and Gerard Conyers 10 points and 8 rebounds for the victorious Scotsmen.

With this non-league win, Dundee improved their overall record to 7-2, 4-2 in the Finger Lakes West.

On Jan. 9, the Dundee Boys continued their winning ways with an exciting 64-62 win over Bloomfield at home.  Rocky Martini calmly sank two free throws with 7 seconds remaining to capture this big win.  The second half of this game was nip and tuck with both teams staying within one point of each other until Martini’s heroics delivered the win.

Besides Martini’s clutch, game winning free throws, he led the Scot’s scoring attack with 22 points including 9 of 10 from the charity stripe. 

Gerard Conyers added 17 points with Brent Ayers and Mason Brown throwing in 8 points apiece.  Dyan Hastings grabbed 7 rebounds for the victoriuos Scots (8-2,5-2).

The Dundee Boys completed their winning trifecta for the week with a 59-43 league win over Red Jacket in Dundee on Friday Jan. 11.  A 25-10 run in the third quarter broke open a close game and sparked Dundee to their sixth Finger Lakes West win.

Brent Ayers garnered scoring honors for the night with 13 points.  He also had 8 rebounds, 4 steals, and 5 assists to complete an impressive game resume.  Rocky Martini chipped in 10 points in the Dundee victory.
