Lady Mustangs win sectional opener with 45-16 romp over Attica

The Penn Yan Mustang Girl’s Basketball team scored a convincing 45-16 win over #11  Attica in the first round of the Class BB Section V Girl’s Basketball Tournament on Saturday night in Penn Yan. 

The sixth seeded Mustangs limited visiting Attica to just nine points in the first three quarters en route to the easy win.

Haley Milam scored 11 points to lead the Orange and Blue in scoring. 

Emily Simpson added 10 points and Katelyn Sloan seven points.  The Lady Mustangs will hit the road next to take on the #3 seeded team from Livonia on Thursday evening, Feb. 21.

The Penn Yan Girl Hoopsters dropped their regular season finale 56-46 to Waterloo in Penn Yan last Wednesday night. 

After a dead even first quarter that ended with 10 points each, the Lady Indians pulled ahead at the half 27-15.  Penn Yan made a run to cut the Waterloo lead to 41-35 after three quarters. 

But Waterloo once again took control in the final stanza to garner the 10 point win.

Elly Disbrow had a huge night offensively for Penn Yan scoring 25 points.  Katelyn Sloan and Haley Milam added 9 and 5 points respectively for the ‘stangs.  Penn Yan completed their regular season with a 4-11 record in the Finger Lakes East , 8-12 overall.
