Mustang Nine roll to wins over Pal-Mac, Mynderse

The Penn Yan Mustang Baseball team picked up two big Finger Lakes East wins last week to pull within a half game of first place in the Finger Lakes East Division II League.

Pal/Mac 2

On Thursday the Orange and Blue hammered Pal/Mac in Palymra 17-2.  The Penn Yan offense was sparked by a 375 foot round tripper by Kyle Barkley in the second inning. 

The Mustangs pounded out a season high 19 hits in the game. Tim Eckerson led the way with a 3 for 3 afternoon.  Penn Yan put the game out of reach with eight runs in the fourth inning. Brent Johnson picked up the win on the hill for Penn Yan.

Mynderse 2

On Friday afternoon at the Elm Street Field in Penn Yan, the Mustangs defeated Mynderse for the 11th straight time. 

Tim Eckerson tossed a 2-hitter, striking out nine and walking only one in a complete game effort. Cody Allison delivered an RBI single to spark a 3-run inning for Penn Yan. 

Kyle Barkley added a double.  The win improved Penn Yan's Finger Lakes League record to 4-2, 6-5 overall.  The Mustangs are just one game behind in the loss column to first place Midlakes in the Finger Lakes East Division II race. 

The two teams will meet twice in the coming weeks. 

Marcus Whitman 6

Honeoye 15 

The Marcus Whitman Wildcat Baseball team split four games last week in local high school baseball action.  On Monday in Gorham, the Honeoye Bulldogs knocked off the Wildcats 15-6. 

Trevor Andrews smacked a homerun and went 3 for 5 for Whitman in a losing cause.  Cal Andrews went 2 for 2, Jason Fulkrod added a double.

Romulus 5

The Wildcats bouncedback the next afternoon in Romulus, defeating the hometown Warriors 18-5.  Jeremy Armison contributed two doubles and drove in seven runs to lead the Wildcat attack. Cal Andrews was the winning pitcher scattering seven Romulus hits en route to the victory.

Naples 4      

The Big Green from the Naples valley handed the Wildcats their second loss of the week and the season on Friday defeating Marcus Whitman 4-2.  Cal Andrews went 2 for 3 with a single and a double for Whitman.  Trevor Andrews took the loss, striking out 4 Naples batters.

DeSales 7

Whitman broke a 7-7 tie in the 6th inning and defeated DeSales of Geneva 11-7 at home on Saturday afternoon.  Cal Andrews delivered a big double and triple to lead the Wildcats.  Greg Foster added 2 hits.  Brett Havens was the winning pitcher for the Wildcats ( 6-2).

South Seneca 1

The Dundee Scots Nine pounded out 15 hits and defeated South Seneca at home 12-1 on Wednesday afternoon.  Brent Ayers hammered a big homerun to spark the Dundee offense.  Winning pitcher Rocky Martini struck out 10 South Seneca hitters and also chipped in 2 hits on offense.

Red Jacket 4

The Scotsmen improved their Finger Lakes West League record to 5-2 with a big 15-4 win over Red jacket in Shortsville on Friday afternoon.  Ayers had 4 hits for Dundee and was also the winning pitcher.  Kyle Spinks added a triple and a single for Dundee ( 5-2,5-3).
