Dundee girls get first win; Penn Yan splits six games

The Penn Yan Mustang Softball team had a very busy week which featured six games, including two doubleheaders.
PENN YAN 0
CANANDAIGUA 1
On Monday afternoon in Penn Yan, the Lady Mustangs split a doubleheader with Canandaigua. The visiting Braves shutout Penn Yan 1-0 in the opener. Penn Yan could muster only 2 hits in the game. Amanda Mosich held Canandaigua to just 3 hits, striking out 7.

In the nightcap, Penn Yan broke a 1-1 tie with 3 runs in the fifth inning and held on for a 4-3 win. Amanda Mosich had a single and a triple driving in three of Penn Yan's runs. Elly Disbrow went 2 for 3 with a double.

On Wednesday afternoon the Lady Mustangs dropped a 2-1 decision to Victor in 8 innings. Elly Disbrow had a RBI single for Penn Yan. Amanda Mosich had two hits.

MIDLAKES 0
The Lady Mustangs bounced back on Friday to defeat Midlakes 2-0 in Phelps. Amanda Mosich tossed a 2 hit shutout with 9 strikeouts. She also delivered a double. Elly Disbrow had 3 hits and Chelsea Travis one hit for Penn Yan.

Penn Yan completed their busy week with a doubleheader split with Star Point from Section 6, the Buffalo area. In the opener Penn Yan defeated Star Point 5-4. Chelsea Travis had a double and 2 RBIs. Megan Foster went 2 for 3. amanda Mosich picked up the win striking out 6.

Star Point rebounded to take the second game 7-2. Christine Mosich had 2 hits including a triple for Penn yan. Rachel Roddenbery also delivered two hits. Penn Yan's record stands at 13-9 overall, 5-5 in the Finger Lakes East.
DUNDEE 10
ROMULUS 9
In other local softball action on Monday, Dundee won their first game of the seaon with a 10-9 win over Romulus in 8 innings. The Lady Scots tied the game in the seventh inning and won the game in the eighth inning on a RBI single by Sami Clingerman driving in Nikki Muoio. Shaila Gorske drove in two runs. Lindsay Wood was the winning pitcher.

MARCUS WHITMAN 10
On Tuesday afternoon in Dundee, Marcus Whitman defeated Dundee 10-5.
The game was scoreless after three innings. Whitman broke the game wide open, scoring 9 runs in the fifth inning. MacKenzie Green picked up the win for the Lady Wildcats.

On Thursday afternoon in Geneva, DeSales defeated Dundee 15-0 in five innings.

Friday afternoon South Seneca downed Dundee 16-5. Sami Clingerman had a triple and single for the Lady Scots.

Also Bloomfield tacked a 10-6 loss on Marcus Whitman. Ashley Bardeen had a double and MacKenzie Green a single for Whitman.

The Marcus Whitman Lady Wildcats lost to Midlakes 6-4 on Friday and to Lyons 8-7 on Saturday.
