Lady Mustangs split pair of lacrosse games

The Penn Yan Mustang Girls Lacrosse team raced to a 6-0 halftime lead and easily handed the Pal-Mac Red Raiders a 11-4 loss on Tuesday afternoon in Penn Yan. 

Chelsea Treat racked up 4 goals and handed out an assist to lead the Mustang charge.  Morgan Basler netted 3 goals and an assist also.  Natalie Wagaman, Madison Hill, Courtney Hey and Meredyth McMichael also contributed goals in the Orange and Blue victory. 

Marilyn Maslyn stopped four Red Raider shots in goal in the first half and Meg Hopkins 5 shots in the second half.

Canandaigua 16   

On Friday afternoon, the Lady Mustangs traveled to Canandaigua to take on the first place Braves.  The hosts blew open a close match in the second half with 10 unanswered goals en route to a 16-3 win.  Chelseas Treat scored 2 goals and Courtney Hey 1 goal for Penn Yan.  Meg Hopkins had 13 saves in goal for the Lady Mustangs.

In other area high school girls lacrosse action, the Marcus Whitman Lady Wildcats dropped a 17-6 decision to Canandaigua on Tuesday afternoon. 

Bri Dunton ( 2 goals, 1 assist); Jessica Dean ( 1 goal); Kara Lyon ( 1 goal); Hannah Barnett ( 1 goal); and Kara Horn ( 1 goal) accounted for the Whitman scoring. 

Katie Capiello had 8 saves in goal.

Thursday afternoon was not any kinder to the girls from Whitman.  The Lady Wildcats dropped a tough 13-12 overtime thriller.  Jessica Dean scored 3 goals to the Wildcat attack.  Kara Lyon, Megan Robeson, and Bri Dunton contributed 2 goals each for Marcus Whitman.

Midlakes 2

On Friday afternoon, the Lady Wildcats reversed their early week misfortunes defeating Midlakes 12-2.  Megan Robeson scored 3 goals, Rachel Northrup 2 goals and 3 assists, Bri Dunton 2 goals and 4 assists to lead the Whitman attack.  Kara Lyon, Hannah Barnett, Kacie Harris, Katelyn Airth, and Danielle Turner also registered markers for the Wildcats.  Katie Capiello ( 6 saves) and Brittany Caitlin ( 4 saves) shared time in goal.
