Marcus Whitman girls open tourney play with win

In high school girls lacrosse action, Marcus Whitman defeated Mynderse 16-5 in the opening round of the Section V Girls Lacrosse Tournament. The Lady Wildcats led 10-1 after one half. Hannah Barnett and Bri Dunton scored three goals each and had an assist.

Rachel Northrup, Megan Robeson and Jessica Dean posted two goals and one assist each. Kara Lyon and Kacie Harris had one goal and one assist each. Whitman improved their record to 13-6. They will play Waterloo next in the quarter finals.

Mercy 6

Earlier in the week, Whitman defeated Mercy 10-6 at home. Bri Dunton had two goals and two assists. Megan Robson two goals and one assist, Jessica Dean had two goals and one assist to lead the Wildcat attack. Rachel Northrup, Kacie Harris and Kara Lyon also had goals.

Fairport 8

The Penn Yan Lady Mustangs dropped an 8-6 decision to Fairport on Thursday. Penn Yan, a number 3 seed, will open their Section V Class C Tournament with a quarterfinal match-up with #6 Mercy on Wednesday in Penn Yan. Mercy reached the quarterfinals with an 18-7 win over Geneva in the opening round.
