Lady Wildcats drop first game to Bloomfield

The Marcus Whitman Lady Wildcat basketball squad dropped their opening game of the 2008-9 season  to Bloomfield 63-44 at home  Tuesday night. 

The hometown Wildcats fell behind 32-14 in the first half and could never quite recover.  Jessica Dean led the Whitman offense with 14 points. 

Hannah Barnett added 12 points and Jamie Archer 6 points for the Wildcats.

The Whitman Lady hoopsters bounced back  Friday, defeating Honeoye 41-30 in the opening round of the Honeoye Tournament. 

Whitman outscored their hosts 16-6 in the final quarter to nail down their first win of the season.

Barnett scored 12 points to lead the Whitman attack.  Her 10th grade backcourt mate Megan Robeson added 10 points in the win.  Andrea Eckert chipped in 9 points.

The Marcus Whitman Girl Cagers were defeated by Waterloo 54-43 in the championship game of the Honeoye Tournament on Saturday.  The Lady Indians jumped to a 20-15 halftime lead and held off the Wildcats the rest of the way. 

Jessica Dean was Whitman's top scorer with 11 points. Megan Robeson added 9 points and Andrea Eckert 7 points.
