Lady Scots hammer Naples and Honeoye in FL West action
The Dundee Scot girls basketball team registered wins number two and three on the season with big Finger Lakes West wins over Naples and Honeoye.
On Tuesday evening in Naples, Dundee blasted the Big Green 54-25.
Sami Clingerman had a big evening for the Dundee cagers. She scored 17 points, hauled down 7 rebounds, and also had 6 steals to lead the Lady Scots to the win. Teammate Casi Strait added 17 points and 5 assists.
Two nights later at home, the Dundee girls continued down the winning path with an easy 59-30 win over Honeoye.
The stingy Dundee defense held the Lady Bulldogs to just single digits in the first three quarters. Offensively, Casi Strait scored 17 points to lead the Maroon and White.
Nicole Muoio added 12 points and also pulled down 8 boards. Sami Pratt tossed in 10 points. Sami Clingerman keyed a tough Scots defense with 5 steals. Dundee improves their season record to 3-1, 2-1 in the finger Lakes West.
Penn Yan 23
The Penn Yan Mustang girls basketball team dropped their second game of the young season 60-23 at home on Saturday afternoon to Canandaigua.
The D-I Braves stormed out to a 35-8 lead at the half and were never really challenged after that. Kaitlyn Sloan was Penn Yan's top scorer with 12 points. Emily Simpson added 3 points.
Penn Yan travels to Seneca Falls to take on Mynderse on Tuesday night in a Finger Lakes East D-II matchup. The Lady Mustangs will try to get back on track against the Blue Devils. The Mustangs are 0-2 on the season, 0-1 in the Finger Lakes East.
In other area high school girl's basketball action, the Marcus Whitman Lady Wildcats dropped a close 37-35 decision to Mynderse in Seneca Falls on Wednesday night. Hannah Barnett scored 15 points to lead the Lady Wildcats (1-4) in scoring.
On Friday evening in Palmyra, Marcus Whitman lost to Pal/Mac 54-27. Hannah Barnett once again led the Wildcat offense with 12 points. Jamie Archer added 8 points and Jessica Dean chipped in 5 points in the loss. Whitman falls to 0-2 in the Finger Lakes East D-II.
