Fox, Fleischman lead Mustang bowler in 4-0 shut out

In the biggest match of the season, the Penn Yan Mustangs dominated the Newark Reds at Doug Kent’s Rose Bowl in Newark this past Monday afternoon. 

The super focused Mustangs registered over 1,000 pins in all three games and recorded a 4-0 win over the Reds. With the wins, Penn Yan jumped into first place in the Finger Lakes East, replacing the defending champion Newark Reds team.

Dan Fox was the leader of the Mustang onslaught. He rolled a 704 series with games of 232, 234 and 238.

Teammate Derrick Fleischman was just behind, with a 703 series. The red hot Fleischman had 11 straight strikes en route to a 290 game. He also rolled a 244 single game.

Not to be outdone by the boys, the distaff Mustang team stonewalled their Newark host 4-0. They improved their record to 22-6, 18-6 in the league.  Shelby Button rolled a 539 (202-182) to pace the Mustangs. Brendaya Parsons scored a 536 series (215).

Later in the week, the Penn Yan boys team defeated Waterloo 4-0 at Sunset Bowl to solidify their hold on first place in the Finger Lakes East.

Penn Yan’s win on Wednesday afternoon was paced by Ryan Johnson’s 724 series (256-243-225). Eric Pulver rolled games of 256 and 254 for the Mustangs (27-5). Dan Fox added a 235 game.

The Lady Mustangs downed Waterloo 3-1 at Sunset Bowl on Wednesday.  Brendaya Parsons delivered a 472 series to lead Penn Yan. Shelby Button rolled a single game of 171 for Penn Yan (25-7,21-7).


The Marcus Whitman boys bowling team dropped a 3-1 decision to Geneva in Hopewell on Monday afternoon. Jeremy Armison rolled a 712 series (217-257-238) to pace the Wildcats. Andrew Cornish added a single game of 233. Allen Burnett rolled a 213.

On Wednesday afternoon in Hopewell, Marcus Whitman fell to Canandaigua 3-1.  Jeremy Armison’s 661 series ( 256-235) was Whitman’s best. Rob Cornish delivered games of 200 and 191.  Allen Burnett rolled a 208.

The Wildcat girls team also lost to Geneva on Monday 4-0. Jamie Schweigert delivered a Whitman best 522 series. 

On Wednesday, Canandaigua downed the Lady Wildcats 3-1. Once again, Jamie Schweigert was the best Wildcat bowler with a 554 series (202-187-165).


The Dundee Scots bowling teams shutout Romulus on Tuesday at Sunset Bowl.  The Dundee boys team registered a 4-0 shutout win. With a 23-1 record, the Scots sit on top of the Finger Lakes West league.

Devon Miller rolled a 185 game to lead Dundee. The Lady Scots also whitewashed Romulus 4-0. Loren Marusarz bowled a 500 series (183) to pace Dundee (19-4-1).

The Dundee girls team also shutout DeSales 4-0 on Thursday at Sunset Bowl.  Amanda Crans rolled a 445 series to lead Dundee.

The Dundee boys team also picked a 4-0 win over DeSales by forfeit.
