The Penn Yan Mustangs, once again on the strength of another tough defensive effort, remained undefeated this season with a 54-38 win over Finger Lakes East D-II foe Mynderse in Penn Yan on Tuesday night.

The Orange and Blue cagers raced out to a 18-11 lead after one quarter over the defending D-II champion Blue Devils.

Penn Yan effectively kept Mynderse in check the rest of the game to gain their third Finger Lakes East win.  They are 6-0 overall.

The Mustangs had their sights set on a fourth league win on Friday against Waterloo. The Finger Lakes East teams have not been able to slow down the stampeding Mustang Roundballers this season, but in this case the weatherman could.

Their game against the Indians in Waterloo was postponed because of the stormy weather. This game will be rescheduled at a later date.

In the home win over Mynderse on Tuesday night, Ryan Siwak was Penn Yan’s sharpshooter.

He drained six treys and tallied 20 points to pace the red hot Mustangs.

James Willson and Anthony Luppino both added nine points.  Luppino’s field goals were all from behind the 3-point line.

The Mustangs will take on Midlakes on Tuesday evening.
