PY?wrestlers compete in holiday tournament

Gary Pinneo

The Penn Yan Mustang wrestling team went back to work after enjoying a brief Christmas respite.

The Orange and Blue grapplers traveled to Holly on Saturday to compete in the Holly Holiday Duals.  The Mustang Matsmen wrestled against some very tough competition in this eight team tourney.  Penn Yan defeated Hornell 42-33 to garner their only team win on the day.  Powerful Warsaw downed Penn Yan 57-18 and Finger Lakes foe Newark beat the Mustangs 62-18.  The tough competition against some very good teams will ultimately help the young Orange and Blue squad in the future.  Penn Yan finished 1-3 on the day, good for 6th place in the eight-team field.  They will return to Finger Lakes League action in January.
