Penn Yan falls to Newark; Dundee defeats DeSales

The Penn Yan girls soccer squad battled Newark to a scoreless draw in the first half but yielded two goals in the second half to fall to the Reds 2-0 in Penn Yan on Thursday.  Meg Hopkins played well in goal for the Mustangs stopping seven shots.

On Tuesday, the Lady Mustangs were shutout 7-0 by Pal-Mac in Palmyra.  Hali Spoor and Meg Hopkins combined for 9 saves in the contest for Penn Yan (2-7).


In other girls soccer action last week, Dundee defeated DeSales 5-3 on Thursday.  Casi Strait tallied three goals and added an assist for the Scots in this contest.  Samantha Clingerman added a goal and two assists. 

On Tuesday in Honeoye, the Lady Scots dropped a 7-1 decision to Honeoye.  Strait scored the lone goal for Dundee.  The Lady Scots also fell to Naples 7-0 on Friday afternoon.

Marcus Whitman

The Marcus Whitman girl’s team defeated Mynderse 1-0 in Seneca Falls on Wednesday.  Maddie Brown scored the game’s only goal.  Claudia Coleates registered nine saves in this shutout Whitman win.  On Tuesday afternoon in Ontario Center, Wayne defeated the Lady Wildcats 2-1.  Maddie Brown scored the only Wildcat goal while Claudia Coleates recorded 14 saves.  Also in Wayne County on Friday, Newark edged the Whitman girls 2-1.  Meg Robson scored the Whitman goal and Claudia Coleates had four saves in the nets.
