Mustang harriers rack wins in meet at Keuka Lake Park

The Penn Yan Mustang Cross Country squads registered wins on Oct. 13 in a meet at their home course at the Keuka Lake State Park.

The Mustang boy’s team lost to Wayne 43-16 but scored wins over Pal-Mac, Red Jacket, and H.A.C by identical scores of 22-33. 

Lyman Beecher finished in fifth place overall, Kyle Rapp seventh, and Alex Bodine 10th to set up Penn Yan.  The Mustangs were supported by Miles Snyder in 23rd and Robert Jensen 25th.  With the wins, the Mustangs improved their record to 10-7.

The Mustang girls also lost to Wayne 38-17 and beat Pal-Mac 18-41, Red Jacket 25-34, and also scored a win over incomplete H.A.C.

Natalie Wagaman and Carolyn Smith finished 8th and ninth to pace the Orange and Blue runners. Rachel Colaneri, Brittany Griffiths, and Kristina McBride finished 12th, 13th, and 14th. 

Penn Yan also got displacement help from Stephnie Lee finishing 21st and Sarah Shaver 22nd to finalize the wins over Pal-Mac and Red Jacket. The Mustang girls improved their season record to 13-3.

Penn Yan will host their last  league meet on Tuesday at the course at Keuka Lake Park.  The league championships will   run on Oct. 31.

Marcus Whitman

In other local cross country action,  the Marcus Whitman boys defeated Bloomfield 22-33, Mynderse 18-37, and Red Creek 20-35 in a meet in Romulus on Tuesday. Zac Ekdahl finished second, Garrett Hartman fourth, Mike Salotto sixth, Jacob Champlin seventh, and Adam Bratley ninth for the Wildcats. The Marcus Whitman girls squad ran incomplete in this meet.
