Lady Mustangs finish on high note, defeat Midlakes, Pal/Mac

The Penn Yan Mustang Girls Volleyball team head into the Section V Tournament with a full head of steam. They host Bath at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 at the Penn Yan Elementary School.

The Penn Yan netsters ended their regular season schedule with two huge wins over Midlakes and Pal-Mac.  On Tuesday at home, the Lady Mustangs shutout Midlakes 3-0.  Brooke Wickham contributed 10 assists in this contest as did Brittany Jensen.  Lindsay Morehouse posted five assists and three kills.

On Thursday in Palmyra, the Penn Yan girls dropped the first set to the Red Raiders, but stormed back to take the next three to post a 3-1 win over the hometown Raiders.  Brittany Jensen recorded eight kills.  Emily Drake had five blocks.

Penn Yan finished their best regular season in many years with a 10-8 record.  They are 7-5 in the league.  The Mustangs nailed down second place in the league with their big win.  Next up, the Section V Tournament.


Also in volleyball action, Mynderse defeated Dundee 3-1 in Dundee on Thursday. 

Earlier in the week, Bloomfield also downed Dundee 3-1.  The Scots record slipped to 2-13,1-11 in the Finger Lakes West.
