Mustangs fall to Bath Haverling 10-6

The 2010 season came to an abrupt end for the Penn Yan Mustang baseball squad on Friday.  

The Bath Haverling Rams scored four runs in the first and went to defeat the visiting No. 5 seed Mustangs 10-6 in the Section V tournament opener for both teams.

 Elliott  Eckerson had a double and a single for the Mustangs.  He also drove in two of Penn Yan’s runs.  

The Mustangs end their 2010 campaign with a 10-11 record.

Dundee 1

The Dundee Scots, seeded No. 6 in the Class C tournament fell to No. 1 Lyons 6-1 in Wayne County on Friday afternoon.  Jake Karlnoski had an RBI single for Dunde’’s only run of the day.

The Scots had advanced to Friday’s game with a 3-1 win over Canisteo-Greenwood on Tuesday in Dundee.  Garrick Conyers, Joe Tortolon, and Anthony Tiffany had RBI singles for the Scots.  Tom Pratt picked up the win going 5 2/3 innings, striking out four.  

Mike Pollack earned a save. Dundee finishes their 2010 campaign with a 8-9 record.

NR/Wolcott 17

Marcus Whitman 5

Marcus Whitman was also eliminated on Tuesday by North Rose/Wolcott 17-5.  A nine-run NR/W third inning doomed the Wildcats (2-16) in this contest.  

Cal Andrews had two hits and scored two runs for Whitman.   

Penn Yan’s Shortstop Hunter Hey is unable to grab a high throw in order to tag out the Bath runner stealing second.
