Lady Mustangs down Midlakes 42-36

The Penn Yan Lady Mustang cagers ended their 2010-11 regular season on a high note with a 42-36 victory over Midlakes in Phelps on Tuesday evening.

The win improved Penn Yan's record to 11-7 with the Section V tournament on tap next.  The Orange and Blue hoopsters earned a No. 4 seed in the upcoming Section V Class BB tournament.  They will host the  No. 5 seed Bath Haverling Ram team in a quarterfinal matchup on Thursday evening starting at 7 p.m.  The winner of this contest will advance to the semifinals next Monday at a site to be determined.

They battled back after trailing 30-28 after three quarters to win the Finger Lakes East contest.  The Orange and Blue cagers outscored their hosts 14-6 in the final eight minutes to come away with the 42-36 league win.  

Rachel Roddenbery notched 13 points to pace the Lady Mustang attack.  Emily Simpson added 10 points.  The Mustangs end their regular season schedule with two straight wins.

Geneva 27

 They also defeated Geneva 39-27 at home on Monday evening.  Emily Simpson and Chelsie Travis scored 11 points each in this contest.  Bri Bush pulled down 10 rebounds.   They hope to carry this momentum into the Section V tournament.

HAC 50

Dundee 25

The Dundee Lady Scots lost to H.A.C. 50-25 on Monday in Brighton in their Finger Lakes West regular season finale.  They finish the regular campaign with a 12-6 record.  Casi Strait scored 13 of Dundee's 25 points.

She was named the Finger Lakes West Player of the Week for her efforts.  The Lady Scots will be the No. 8 seed in the Section V Class C tournament.  They will host the No. 9 seed York team on Monday evening.
