Turkey hunting program announced for Sampson State Park

Staff reports

Tim Joseph, Regional Director of the Finger Lakes State Parks, announces Sampson State Park will pilot a turkey hunting program this year within the regular spring season from May 1 – 26, 2011.

Twelve hunters will be permitted to hunt in one of twelve zones, five of which are for bow hunting only.  All hunters must pre-register with the park for a date and zone in person or by phone during normal business hours at least two days in advance of desired date.

All New York State Department of Environmental Conservation rules and regulations regarding spring turkey hunting will apply with the exception that handguns are not permitted in the park at any time.
