Lady Mustangs capture two more league wins

The Lady Mustang lacrosse team returned to their winning ways after dropping a game to Marcus Whitman last week.  

The Penn Yan girls registered two Finger Lakes League wins last week to improve their record to 4-1.

Waterloo 5

On Thursday at Mustang Field in Penn Yan, the Mustangs built up a 6-4 lead in the second half, and held on for a narrow 6-5 win over the visiting laxers from Waterloo.  

The Lady Mustangs controlled the ball for the final three minutes to ensure the victory after Waterloo scored to narrow the lead to one, 6-5.  

Madison Hill scored two goals, and added an assist. She scored the game winner.  Jen Burt also tallied two goals.  

Cara Elias and Natalie Wagaman also scored goals for Penn Yan.  

Meg Hopkins played well in the Orange and Blue nets, recording eight saves.

Pal-Mac 5

The Lady Mustangs ran their 2011 record to 4-1 with a 14-5 triumph over Pal-Mac in Palmyra on Friday afternoon.  The Mustangs scored seven goals in first half, and added seven more in the back half of the game.  Jen Burt had the big scoring afternoon for Penn Yan, notching five goals.  Sam Steinert and Sam Mashewske both added two goals.  Maddie Hill, Kristen Thayer, Christy Brennan, and Leah Swarthout also scored goals for Penn Yan.   Meg Hopkins garnered 10 saves in goal for Penn Yan.
