Trout stocking in the Keuka Outlet

Youngsters from Marcus Whitman School assisted Trout Unlimited and DEC officials with releasing about 700 trout into the Keuka Outlet on Earth Day. The trout were delivered to the site on trucks from the Bath and Caledonia hatcheries, then placed in buckets that the youngsters and other volunteers emptied into the water.

Earth day was the perfect day to bring some new residents to the Keuka Outlet. Youngsters from Marcus Whitman School joined volunteers from Trout Unlimited and officials from the Department of Environmental Conservation as they released trout at about 10 sites between Cascade Falls and Penn Yan.

It didn't take long for the fishermen, and at least one mink, along the waterway to see the value of the added population.
