Mustang laxers split games with Monroe County teams

The Penn Yan Mustang lacrosse team dropped a 9-8 decision to a talented Fairport team on Thursday evening in Penn Yan.  

The Mustangs led 4-2 after two quarters, but the visiting Red Raiders outscored their hosts 7-4 in the second half to pull out the narrow victory. 

Dylan Yonts scored three goals, and added three assists to lead Penn Yan in scoring.  Bradley Voigt (two goals), Anthony Luppino (one goal), Ryan Maciejewski (one goal), and James Voigt (one goal) rounded out the Penn Yan scoring.  Adam Stork added an assist.  Brandon Maciejewski recorded 12 saves in goal for Penn Yan.

On Saturday afternoon at Mustang field, the Penn Yan laxers quickly rebounded by defeating Webster- Shroeder 12-3.  The Mustang defense stymied their Rochester area guests, shutting them out in the first half.  Penn Yan tallied 12 goals in the final three quarters of this contest to ensure another win.  

Dylan Yonts (two goals/three assists), Anthony Luppino (two goals/two assists), J.J. Voigt (two goals/one assist), Corey Grace (two goals), Ryan Maciejew-ski (two goals), Adam Stork (one goal), and Colby Treat (one goal) provided the offense for the Orange and Blue lax crew.  

Brandon Maciejewski and Matt Spoor split time in the nets for Penn Yan.  

They combined for 13 saves.  Penn Yan’s contest against Baldwinsville at home on Tuesday evening lasted only a little over a minute.  

Penn Yan grabbed a quick 1-0 lead before the rain and lightning curtailed this contest.  After waiting some time, the game was halted for good.  Because of scheduling problems, this game will not be made up.
