The Penn Yan Mustang track and field teams have yet to compete in a league meet. Certainly, the poor weather conditions of this spring has been a factor.  Hopefully, this will all change this week when the Penn Yan teams host Newark at the fine track and field facility at Mustang Field in Penn Yan.

The Mustangs participated at the Wayne Invitational this past Friday.  Unfortunately, the weather played a factor in this event.  The poor conditions worsened as the event went on.  The boys discus and the  girls shot put events were canceled totally.

For the Mustang boy’s team, Geoff Rouin placed second in the 3200.  He combined with Ben Dinehart, Kyle Meyers, and Chris Weeden to take third place among the 12 competing teams in the 4 x 400 relay event.  Ray Mashewske placed third in the shot put.  Individual fourth places went to Geoff Rouin in the 1600 and Chris Weeden in the 400.  Rouin, Dinehart, Dan Burdette, and Travis Mothersell came in fourth in the 4 x 800 relay.  Chris Weeden came in 6th place in the 200.

On the girl’s side, the 4 x 400 relay team of Ruby Roth, Stephanie Lee, Leah Van Son, and Ashley Harling came in 5th place.
