Mustangs post two wins; Scots defeat Geneva, Wayne

The Penn Yan Mustang tennis team seems to be hitting their stride just as the season draws to a close.  

The Penn Yan netsters posted two wins last week to improve their record to 4-8.  The Mustangs topped Newark at home on Thursday, 3-2.  

Everett Spencer and Jeff Shiek posted wins in their singles matches.  The Orange and Blue doubles team of John Presher and Dan Ledgerwood also  scored a victory to help propel Penn Yan to the win.

Earlier in the week, the Mustangs defeated Bloomfield 4-1 in Penn Yan.  Three of Penn Yan’s four points came in the singles matches.  Everett Spencer, Jeff Shiek, and John Presher posted singles wins.  

Dan Ledgerwood and Nick Coriale won their doubles match.  The Mustangs will complete their schedule on Friday, May 20 in Naples.  

On Monday afternoon in Ontario Center, the Mustangs were shutout by Wayne 5-0.

The Dundee Scots tennis team came away with two big wins last week in local high school tennis action.  

The Scots defeated Geneva 4-1 in Geneva.  James Deane, Dan D’Amato, and Dustin Sullivan tallied victories in their singles matches.  

Dundee’s doubles team of Chris Case and Devon Miller also posted a crucial win. for Dundee (2-9).

On Friday afternoon, the Scots defeated Wayne 3-2.  

Dan D’Amato won his singles contest, and the Dundee doubles teams of Chris Case and Devon Miller, and Elijah Burke and Corey Day also posted wins.
