Lady Mustangs advance in Section V tourney with 6-2 win over Dansville

The Penn Yan Lady Mustangs earned a trip to the Section V B-1 semifinals with a convincing 6-2 victory over Dansville on Friday afternoon at the Middle School Field in Penn Yan.  The hometown Mustangs, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, built up a 4-0 lead after four innings and glided on to their opening tournament win.

Rachel Angell provided the offensive spark for the Orange and Blue softball forces with a big day at the plate.  She went 3-for-3, including a double, and drove in four of the Penn Yan total of six runs. 

Rachel Roddenbery delivered two hits and an RBI.  Chelsie Travis provided a RBI single and assisted on a sparkling double play with a nice catch and throw in the third inning.  Bri Bush was the winning pitcher for the Lady Mustangs.  She scattered three hits and struck out five Dansville batters. 

The Lady Mustangs advance to the Class B-1 semifinals on Tuesday,  They will be taking on the Lady Rams from Bath Haverling in this contest.
