Mustang senior captain Chris Weeden scored with 10:05 remaining the second half to help lead Penn Yan past the Newark Reds with a score of 1-0 on Oct. 11.

Senior captain Michael Theismeyer celebrated his 17th birthday with the assist on Weeden's goal.

Penn Yan junior goalkeeper David Travis had seven saves, as did Newark junior goalkeeper Jamal Walker.

"A win is a win and we didn't give up. We kept hustling, and eventually those who worked hard were rewarded" said Mustang coach Jon MacKerchar.

Marcus Whitman 1, Penn Yan 0

Wildcat senior defenseman Jeffrey Bero scored with 5:34 remaining in the game to lead Marcus Whitman past the Mustangs by a score of 1-0 on Oct. 13.

Whitman senior midfielder Matthew Hey was credited with the assist.

Penn Yan junior goalkeeper David Travis had nine saves, while Marcus Whitman senior goalkeeper stopped five shots.

"We worked harder than them" said Penn Yan coach Jon MacKerchar. "They were lifeless out there. We just got very unlucky tonight."

Penn Yan's record now sits at 7-5-2. Marcus Whitman's league record jumped to 8-2-2.
