Cross Country: girls defeat two of three teams

Penn Yan Cross Country squads came away with mixed results following a Oct. 11 meet located at Cayuga Lake State Park.

The Penn Yan Girls squad defeated two of their three opponents, with a 19-41 victory over Pal-Mac and a 26-33 win over the Mynderse Blue Devils. Red Creek defeated the Mustangs 31-25, although sophomore Evelyn Pinneo took second place overall.

The Mustangs' Boys runners snagged a 25-30 triumph over Mynderse, but were beaten 44-15 by Palmyra-Macedon and 40-16 by Red Creek.

Penn Yan's girls team was named an honorable mention for Section V's small schools poll, which ranks them as being the 11th best cross country team amongst Section V's schools that are in Class B or lower.
