Cross Country: Penn Yan teams outrun others

The Penn Yan Girls’ Cross Country team went 4-0 and the Penn Yan Boys’ Cross Country squad went 2-2 in an Oct. 18 meet at Marcus Whitman High School.

The Girls outran Marcus Whitman 33-34, Harley-Allendale-Columbia 20-35, Bloomfield 15-48, and Clyde-Savannah 19-40.

Penn Yan’s Boys team defeated Bloomfield 27-29 and Clyde-Savannah 19-40, but fell to Harley-Allendale-Columbia 45-15 and lost to Marcus Whitman by the narrow margin of 29-28.

Penn Yan’s varsity and modified cross country squads competed at the Rush-Henrietta Halloween Invitational Oct. 22 at Veterans’ Memorial Park in Henrietta.

Mustang sophomore Evelyn Pinneo was named to the “All Invitational Team” with the fourth fastest time amongst girls, clocking in at 20:41. Pinneo, Megan Lafferty, Hannah Gaston, Jennifer Moss, Rachel Tuccio, Carolyn Smith, and Alison Shoff all took top 10 spots in their respective races.

Among the boys team, seniors Robert Jensen and Ben Falter, along with freshman Peter Tomlinson, took top 20 spots in their races.

“Our runners did extremely well yesterday among fourteen Rochester area schools” said Penn Yan coach Terry Test.
