Boys Soccer: Bath ends Penn Yan's season

The Bath-Haverling Rams ended Penn Yan's season with a 2-0 victory at the Cohocton Sports Complex Oct 27.

Bath-Haverling senior forward Brian Hojnoski scored in the 10th minute and senior defenseman Jeff McKinley converted a penalty kick with three minutes remaining for the Rams' goals.

Penn Yan junior goalkeeper David Travis saved nine shots in the mud and snow, while Bath-Haverling's senior keeper Trevor Lang saved two shots for the shutout.

"We gave it all we had tonight, but they were the better team" said Penn Yan coach Jon Mackerchar.

Penn Yan's season ends with a 9-7-2 record.

Oct. 25 Penn Yan 1, Dansville 0 (2OT)

Penn Yan sophomore midfielder Geoff Rouin scored in the 97th minute of play to push the Mustangs past Dansville 1-0 in Class B pre quarterfinal play on Oct 25.

Penn Yan senior captain Chris Weeden assisted Rouin's goal for his third assist of the year. The goal was also Rouin's third of the year.

Junior goalkeeper David Travis saved seven shots for Penn Yan, while Dansville's junior goalkeeper Jason Putney saved four shots.

"I knew by the look in my defense's and goalie's eyes that we weren't going to give up a goal tonight" Penn Yan coach Jon Mackerchar said.

The Dansville Mustangs finish the year with a 6-9-1 overall record.
