Girls Soccer: Penn Yan girls fall to Mynderse; Dundee falls to Wheatland-Chili

Oct. 25: Mynderse 5, Penn Yan 0

Mynderse senior midfielder Hayley Verkey and senior forward Arin Loucks both scored once and earned an assist to lead the Blue Devils past the Mustangs by the score of 5-0 in the Class B sectional pre quarterfinals.

Blue Devils Sydney Rogers, Brittany Anderson, and Abby Dygert each scored once. Junior captain Rachel Jones was credited with two assists.

Mynderse scored their first three goals in a nine minute period ranging from the 16th to 25th minutes of the game, and led 3-0 at halftime.

Blue Devil junior goalkeeper Jessica Parish made five saves for the shutout. Penn Yan junior goalkeeper Casanna Banach stopped ten shots.

Penn Yan finishes the 2011 season with a 5-8-4 record.

Oct. 25 Wheatland-Chili 7, Dundee 0

Wheatland-Chili senior captain Elizabeth Weir's hat trick powered the Wildcats past the Dundee Scots by a score of 7-0 in the Class C pre quarterfinals.

Weir also earned an assist in the game. Wildcat junior forward Emily Boehm had two goals and an assist, while senior midfielder Emily Cook had two assists. Junior captain Mariana Crevison and eighth grader Lexi Combs also scored one goal each.

The Wildcats scored three goals in the first seven minutes and led 4-0 at halftime. Wheatland-Chili junior goalkeeper Kelsey Lovering made one save in the shutout.

Dundee's season ends with an overall record of 0-16-1.
