PY Girls Basketball: Mustang losing streak extended to four games

The Penn Yan Girls' Basketball team dropped games to both Geneva and Palmyra-Macedon last week.

The Geneva Panthers beat the Mustangs in Penn Yan by a margin of 60-30. Penn Yan was led by junior Taylor Travis' 11 points and senior Brianna Bush's eight points. Senior captain Vivian Parks scored 19 points for the Panthers, while junior Jewel McColumn added another ten points for Geneva. Geneva led the Mustangs 23-8 at halftime.

Penn Yan then hit the road to play Palmyra-Macedon. The Red raiders beat the Mustangs 50-28. Travis again led the Mustangs in scoring with eight points. Bush contributed seven points, while classmate Ashley Harling had six points for Penn Yan. Ashley Vanderwall led Palmyra-Macedon in scoring with 21 points, while Brittany Szachta had 14 points, six rebounds, six assists, and five steals for the Red Raiders.

Palmyra-Macedon's record jumps to 4-1. The Mustangs fall to 1-4 on the year, their lone victory occurring against Dundee in their first game.
