PY Girls Basketball: Mustangs pick up first league win on road

The Penn Yan girls basketball team won one game and narrowly lost another last week, beating Wayne on the road on Dec. 21 and falling to Mynderse at home by three.

At home against the Wayne Eagles, the Mustangs won 47-40. Senior Brianna Bush scored 15 points while junior Taylor Travis added 13 points for the Mustangs. The Eagles were led in scoring by Leah Saavedra and Hunter Culbertson, who both scored 10 points apiece. Penn Yan won in part to their 15 of 21 shooting from the free throw line. This win doubled for the Mustangs' as both their first league and home win.

Two days later, Penn Yan lost 46-43 to the Mynderse Blue Devils at home. Bush had a double-double with 15 points and 16 rebounds, while Travis accumulated 15 points for Penn Yan. Brittany Anderson and Abby Dygert both led Mynderse in scoring with 14 points.

Penn Yan's record is now 2-5 on the year.
