Last week the Penn Yan Boys tennis team beat Midlakes, traveled to Sectional Qualifiers, and had a match against Naples.

Penn Yan beat Midlakes on April 30th by the score of 4-1 Jeff Schiek, Connor Jensen, and the doubles teams of Josh Logan/Griffin Angell and Dan Ledgerwood/John Foster won for Penn Yan.

Two days later, Jensen and Schiek both traveled to Palmyra-Macedon for sectional qualifiers for singles. Both won their first round matches and fell their quarterfinals matches, placing both in "playbacks" matches to qualify. Schiek won his playback match, Jensen did not. Jeff Schiek will compete in sectionals for Penn Yan. In doubles, the teams of Josh Logan/Griffin Angell and Dan Ledgerwood/Nick Coriale both competed. In the first round, Angell/Logan won, while Coriale/Ledgerwood did not. In the second round Logan/Angell fell, moving them into the "playbacks" round, where they fell 10-9 to B.J. Blair/Ryan Kreuser of Newark, narrowly missing sectionals. This makes Schiek the only Mustang to play sectionals this year.

No information was available for the Naples match played last Friday.

As of May 3, Penn Yan's record was 4-3.
