Penn Yan girls win Section 5 Class C bowling title

Penn Yan won the Section Class C girls bowling title with a team score of 4,881 at AMF Gates Lanes on Friday. The next day, the Penn Yan boys finished second in the Class C boys tournament with 5625 total pins, just 47 pins behind Greece Odyssey's 5672.

Brooke Parsons and Pete Fox will go to the state tournament March 1 and 2 with the Section V All-Star teams.

In the girl's tournament, Bloomfield finished second (4,783) and Marcus Whitman finished sixth (3,694). The Bombers' Rayissa Amon was tied for the high game in the class (216) and the Mustangs' Courtney Ottaviano was tied for the second-highest game in the class (212). Penn Yan's Brooke Parsons bowled the highest series in the class (1,209) and Bloomfield's Courtney Hurlburt bowled the second-highest game in the class (1,184).

The Section 5 girls state team includes: Webster Schroeder's Melanie Copey, Gates Chili's Emily Notebaert, Fairport's Kerragen Dibble, Hilton's Sarah Gerkin, Fairport's Laura Branch and Penn Yan's Parsons.

Penn Yan's Pete Fox had the second highest series in Class C (1,340).

The Section 5 boys state team includes: Athena's Bryce Hook, Charlotte's Larry Winkie, Irondequoit's Chris Yioulos, Penn Yan's Fox, Odyssey's Nick Gaglio and Greece Olympia's Adam Turner.
