HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP: Bowling wins for PY, Whitman boys, Whitman girls

Boys Bowling

Jan. 19

Penn Yan 5, Midlakes 0

The Mustangs continued their dominant season with a win against Midlakes at Brock's Bowl last Tuesday. The final pin count was 3,154 to 1,261. Dutcher Samatulski had the match's highest series of 723, which included the evening's highest game of 276, as well as games of 243 and 204. Also for Penn Yan, Ben Broome bowled a 657 series (216, 173, 268) and Trenton Samatulski bowled a 645 series with games of 203, 258 and 184. Midlakes' top series came from Nathan Miller (422), while their top game was bowled by Jeremy Myhill (158).

Marcus Whitman 5, Bloomfield 0

Whitman beat out Bloomfield at Roseland Bowl with a final pin count of 2,340 to 2,176. Austin King came out with Whitman's top series of 564, including games of 202 and 212. Also for the Wildcats, Tim Phillips bowled a 501 series. Ryan Wollschleger had Bloomfield's top game (217) and top series of the match (570).

Marcus Whitman 5, Romulus 0

Whitman had a big win over Romulus at Sunset Bowl last Thursday with a final pin count of 2,779 to 1,983. Tim Phillips had the Wildcats' top series of 684 with games of 212, 227 and 245. Austin King bowled a 590 series, including a high game of 219 and Nick Lloyd bowled a 583 series with games of 205 and 216. For Romulus, Brett Werner bowled a 434 series with a high game of 164.

Girls Bowling

Jan. 19

Midlakes 5, Penn Yan 0

Despite an overall stronger performance, the Penn Yan girls fell to Midlakes last Tuesday due to a depleted roster that fell below 5 players. Bailey Tiller was the top roller for Midlakes, bowling a 423 series with a high game of 157. Also for Midlakes, Briggot Cooley bowled a 156 game in her 411 series. Anella Tillman led the Mustangs' effort with the match's top series of 557 (208, 192, 157). Also for PY, Andy Kniffin bowled a 482 series and Isabel Campbell bowled a 398 series.

Marcus Whitman 5, Bloomfield 0

The Lady Wildcats defeated Bloomfield with a pin count of 2,213 to 1,637. Whitman's high series of 453 was rolled by Destiny Rast, while their high game came from Kendall Davis with a 189. Also for Whitman, Kennedy Smith bowled a 413 series. Kati Casciani bowled a 368 series for Bloomfield and Nichole Rutherford bowled a high game of 138.

Jan. 21

Marcus Whitman 5, Romulus 0

Whitman took all five points against Romulus at Sunset Bowl for the win. For the Wildcats, Kendall Davis had the match-high series of 478, including a top game of 154. For Romulus, Gigi Consolie bowled a 137 game in her 342 series. 

Boys Swimming

Jan. 19

Gananda 79, Marcus Whitman 78

Whitman narrowly lost to Gananda last week. Brendan Laity won the 200 free (2:01.76) and the 100 free (55.46) for the Wildcats and Carl Parsons won the 200 IM (2:10.67) and the 500 free (5:11.69). Also for Whitman, the 200 medley relay team of Laity, Parsons, Fletcher Dickman and Zachary Lincoln won in 2:00.62 and the team of Lincoln, Blair, Laity and Parsons won the 200 free relay (1:48.00) and the 400 free relay (4:50.40).
