Penn Yan Academy Senior Tyler Griffin has signed his National Letter of Intent to play Div. III lacrosse with the Clarkson University Golden Knights for the 2022 season. Located in the northeast of the state, Clarkson University sits in Potsdam near the borders of Canada and Vermont. Griffin will be studying engineering at Clarkson and was offered a comprehensive academic scholarship by the school.

Senior Tyler Griffin signed his National Letter of Intent to play Div. III lacrosse with the Clarkson University Golden Knights, supported by his parents, Michele & Steve, sister Kaley, and grandparents, Sally & Gary.

Griffin was a defender for Penn Yan, who went 14-7 in the 2019 season and boasted the No. 1 defense in Section V. The 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.

Thinking back on his time playing lacrosse with the Mustangs, Tyler said, "It's been great. [We had] two sectional championships the two years we went. Great teammates...we've been playing together since kindergarten."

Griffin said he chose Clarkson due his impression of the school and their commitment to his academic career.
