The Penn Yan Academy Mustangs (#8) beat the first-seeded World of Inquiry School (WOIS) in the Class C1 Sectional quarterfinal round, sweeping the Griffins with scores of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-20.

Joddie Decker had 6 kills and an assist for Penn Yan, while Paige Yonts had 5 kills and Hailey Trank had 3 kills, 17 assists and a block. The Mustangs moved on to face Dansville (#4) in the semifinal round of Sectionals on Apr. 30 at 6 p.m.

No photos were available at press time. The match was played at WOIS, and the upcoming game against Dansville will also be away. In fact, every game Penn Yan might play in sectionals will be away as PYA is the lowest seeded team in the tourney and all games are being played on the higher seed's turf this year.
