Lakeside County Club's PGA Professional, Bob King, is the recipient of the Western New York PGA Professional of the Year.

PENN YAN – The Board of Directors of Lakeside Country Club (LCC) recently announced that their PGA Professional, Bob King, is the recipient of the Western New York PGA Professional of the Year.

This award is given annually by the WNYPGA to honor the working club professional whose total contributions to the game best exemplify the complete PGA golf professional. While the honor is based on the candidate's entire record, special emphasis is placed on performance and achievement over the past five years in the following criteria:

• Overall performance as a golf professional at his/her club

• Service to PGA Section and Association

• Leadership ability

• Image and ability to inspire fellow professionals

• And (more importantly to LCC and its members) the promotion of the game they all love, golf.

"It is the highest honor given by the WNYPGA and we could not be prouder that it was given to Bob," say the LCC Board. "We all know that golf is a seasonal sport in our area, but knowing that, and understanding what that entails for Bob and his dedicated Pro Shop staff at LCC, can often be two different things. The early mornings, the late evenings, the tournaments, the clinics, the ability to balance the wishes of a golf membership of 250 members (not including spouses, children, etc.)  as well as work with countless non-members wanting to play (to name a few), is a monumental task that few could handle with the grace, congeniality and ever-present smile that is Bob King.

"Please be sure to congratulate Bob when you next see him. And Bob, please know how proud we are of you, and that you have the unending thanks and gratitude of the LCC Board."
