Lions Charity Golf Tournament raises $5,000

Penn Yan Lions Club member Jim Carey presents Dawn Shipman, Yates Community Center manager, with a check for $5,000 to support youth programs at the Yates Community Center.

PENN YAN – The Penn Yan Lions Charity Golf Tournament held at Lakeside Country Club, raises money each year to benefit various local programs. The tournament is held every year except in 2020 due to COVID-19.

This year’s recipient was the Yates Community Center to provide money for youth programs. A check for $5,000 will help support the continued success of these valuable programs including “Elevate Youth.”

The remaining proceeds will help support the wide variety of organizations and individuals through the Penn Yan Lion’s Foundation. Lion Jim Carey devotes countless hours to organizing and overseeing the tournament that involves so many Penn Yan Lions volunteers.
