Chargers draft picks: Grades for Los Angeles selections in 2022 NFL Draft

The Los Angeles Chargers have gone 0-for-2 in making the playoffs in the Justin Herbert era. 

The Chargers focused on bolstering the defense in free agency, adding cornerback J.C. Jackson and pass rusher Khalil Mack. That progress may continue this weekend.

1st Round, No. 17 overall |  Zion Johnson, OL, Boston College

Instant grade:  B

Analysis: Johnson was the last of my first round lineman on the board. Johnson is a solid all-around guard who will stay inside as a pro. The Chargers keep improving in front of Justin Herbert, which is always a good thing.

3rd Round, No. 79 overall | JT Woods, S, Baylor

Instant grade: A-minus

Analysis:  A playmaker with good size, Woods will be another playmaker in that Chargers backfield. 

4th Round, No. 123 overall | Isaiah Spiller, RB, Texas A&M

Instant grade:  A-minus

5th Round, No. 160 overall | Otito Ogbonnia, DL, UCLA

Instant grade: B-plus

6th Round, No. 195 overall | Jamaree Salyer, OL, Georgia

Instant grade: B-plus

6th Round, No. 214 overall (compensatory) | Ja'Sir Taylor, DB, Wake Forest

Instant grade:  B
