HIgh School Baseball: Mustang nine keep rolling

Marty Olmstead's Penn Yan Mustang baseball team is still firing on all cylinders. The Mustang nine notched two more victories April 28 and 29 to improve their Finger Lakes East record to 7-1. With the wins, first place Penn Yan holds a 2 game lead over second place Wayne as the regular season starts down the homestretch.

Penn Yan 7 Geneva 5

Tuesday afternoon in Geneva, the Mustangs scored a 7-5 victory over the hometown Panthers. Lukas Larham picked up the complete game win on the mound limiting Geneva to 6 hits and striking out 8 Panther batters. He also contributed to his own winning cause with his bat. Larham went 2 for 4 including a double, walked 3 times, and scored 2 runs. Noah Hullings also delivered a key hit and scored 2 runs.

Penn Yan 5 Waterloo 2

The Mustangs returned home Wednesday afternoon to take on the Waterloo Indians in another key Finger Lakes East contest. The Orange and Blue diamond nine defeated the visiting tribe 5-2 in this contest. Jon McKay tossed a 5 hitter to deliver the win. Eric Riehl delivered a huge 2 run double in the 3rd inning to ignite the Penn Yan offense. Andrew Christensen, Tyler Keech, and Reese Schuck tallied 2 hits for Penn Yan.

The first place Mustangs are 7-1 in FL East play and 7-4 overall.
