Hobart College Head Football Coach Mike Cragg recently announced the six Statesmen that will serve as team captains for the 2013 season, including senior running back Steven Webb of Dundee, who will be an offensive captain. "Spring practice gives us a peek at next season, and our players had a great spring." says Cragg. "That's due in no small part to the great leadership we got from our captains and our senior class. We're excited for the season to get started."

A 2012 D3football.com All-East third team selection, Webb led the Liberty League in rushing yards (1,197), rushing yards per game (92.1), rushing yards per carry (6.0, min. 8.0 carries per game), all purpose yards (1,525), and all purpose yards per game (117.3). He produced five 100-yard rushing games last season, including a season-high 199 yards and two touchdowns against Union. Webb also had a pair of 100-yard games during Hobart's NCAA quarterfinal run, gaining 130 yards against No. 24 Wittenberg in the second round, and 103 yards at No. 3 St. Thomas.

Hobart begins its 120th varsity season at Dickinson on Saturday, Sept. 7. Kickoff in Carlisle, Pa., is scheduled for noon. The Statesmen return 35 lettermen, including 13 starters, from last year's team that won a school record 12 games against just one loss, securing the Liberty League championship with an unblemished 7-0 record.

Other offensive captains are senior center Michael Green (Clearwater/Belleair Beach, Fla.), and junior tackle Ali Marpet (Hastings/Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.) Defensive captains are senior linebackers Devin Worthington (Aquinas/Worcester Academy/Rochester) and Tom Elder (Chaminade/Hicksville), and senior free safety Jolyon Davis (Carthage/Carthage).
