Inclement weather has forced the cancellation of Saturday’s women’s lacrosse game between Keuka College and Adrian (Mich.) College.

The game was to serve as the Wolfpack’s 2015 season opener, but Keuka will now open the season at home against Alfred University on March 17.

Keuka and Adrian both qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament during the 2014 season. It is not known if the two schools will be able to make up the contest.

The Wolfpack have captured the North Eastern Athletic Conference’s (NEAC) postseason title in five of the last six years, and the Wolfpack have earned a berth in the NCAA Division III tournament in each of the last two seasons.

Under first-year head coach Eryn McCaffrey, the Green and Gold are looking to make it back to the NCAA tournament for the third straight year.

McCaffrey comes to the Green and Gold after spending the previous two seasons as the head women’s lacrosse coach at Chowan University in Murfreesboro, N.C.

She has high expectations for herself and for her returning student-athletes, a group that includes four All-NEAC selections in senior first-teamers Olivia Hudson (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) and Kaycee Maguire (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam), senior third-teamer Jennifer Burt (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) and sophomore third-teamer Morgan Bruno (Seneca Falls, N.Y./Mynderse).

The 2014 women’s lacrosse team surrendered only 104 goals in 19 contests (a 5.47 goals-against average) and was named the NCAA's national statistical leader in stingiest defenses among Division III institutions.
