Keuka Women's Lacrosse: Robinson Honored by NEAC

Freshman goaltender Kayla Robinson (Penn Yan) made a career-high 14 saves to lift the Wolfpack to a thrilling 15-13, overtime win against Morrisville State to secure the top seed for the upcoming NEAC tournament.

On Monday, Robinson and midfielder Olivia Hudson were honored as the NEAC’s Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week.

Hudson scored nine goals with five assists as the Wolfpack (11-2, 9-0 NEAC) earned the NEAC regular season title and the right to host the NEAC postseason tournament.

Robinson, allowed only two goals in wins over Penn State-Abington and Bryn Athyn before her breakout game against the Mustangs.

Robinson stopped two shots in overtime, including denying a free position shot with 3:30 remaining.

Keuka earned the No. 1 seed for the NEAC tournament, Morrisville State is No. 2, Medaille College is No. 3, SUNY Polytechnic is No. 4, and Cazenovia is No. 5.

The Green and Gold, winners of five of the last six NEAC postseason championships, play the winner of Cazenovia and SUNY Poly at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in a semifinal contest, with Morrisville and Medaille meeting at 2 p.m. in the other semifinal. The NEAC championship is at 1 p.m. Sunday.

The winner of the NEAC tournament receives an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament. Keuka has advanced into the NCAA tournament in each of the last two seasons.

On the year, Hudson has recorded 41 points on 29 goals with 12 assists, and also has 38 groundballs, 26 draw controls and 23 caused turnovers. She ranks second on the team in assists, is third in points and fourth in goals. She’s also second in groundballs, caused turnovers, and draw control wins.

Robinson and the Wolfpack defense allowed the fewest goals in the NEAC (111 in 13 games). In 486 minutes of action, Robinson allowed only 43 goals. She ranked first in the NEAC in fewest goals allowed, goals-against average (5.31), and wins, and was second in saves percentage (53.8).
